Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place on each participating street, as well as Best Street in Contest. Thanks to the generosity of our contest sponsor, winners will also receive Gift Certificates from Applebee's.
October 3 Registration forms due back to Block Captain
October 10 Frames delivered to Block Captain for pick-up
October 15 Judging of Scarecrows between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Winners receive ribbons by end of day. (A minimum of threescarecrows on a street required.)
NEW ADDITION!!! INDIVIDUAL SCARECROWS NOW ACCEPTED!!!
Now your business and/or organization can take part in our annual Scarecrow Contest. Freehold's Scarecrow Contest has traditionally been limited to neighborhoods throughout the Borough. Now we are including a special Scarecrow exhibit along the Haunted Hayride route decorated with individualized scarecrows. We want to dazzle our hay riders again by lining the route with creative scarecrows that also advertise your business or bring awareness to your organization. It can also be a great team building activity for your employees, members or volunteers.
To take part, all you need to do is:
1. Agree to create a scarecrow (we supply the frame).
2. Have your scarecrow dressed and ready for pick-up by October 14th.
That's it! We'll place it along the hayride route -- and then, once the rides are over, we'll install them along Main Street to showcase them throughout the Halloween season. The winner receives the Grand Prize Orange Ribbon. Get creative! Think about these ideas:
A pizza guy from Fed's serving up a gory Special pie! A Boy Scout campfire scene replete w/ the man with the hook! The Phantom of the Opera scarecrow from the Freehold Center Player! A tragic Geisha from Oyako Tso's! The "bewitching" soccer coach! The attack of the crazed businessman from the Rotary Club! Librarians gone wild! A freaky 4H-er!
